Why does running-app privacy matter?
A running app records where you go, when, and how often. Over weeks that becomes a map of your life: your home, your workplace, the streets you run at dawn. When that data leaves your phone, you trust a company and its servers to keep it safe. This has proven dangerous.
In 2018, Strava published a global activity heatmap. Analysts found that the brightest lines in remote areas traced the perimeters and internal routes of military bases that were classified. Service members had drawn their base's layout by running on it.
Security researchers have shown that "privacy zones" in fitness apps, circles meant to hide your home address, can often be defeated to recover the address they protect. Since 2025, reporting has continued about service members, bodyguards, and other protected people being located through fitness data. This is built into the design.

Do I have to trust your privacy policy?
The privacy guarantee is architectural. An app that makes no network connections cannot leak data. There is no server to compromise and no request to intercept.
You can verify it yourself. Put your phone in airplane mode and go for a run. Steady Pace works completely. All features function without a signal because the app never uses the network to move data.

Does Steady Pace work without an internet connection?
Yes. The app makes zero network connections and runs entirely on your phone, so it works fully in airplane mode. Target pace, the audio tone, distance, and your route map all function with every radio off. You can turn wireless back on afterward and nothing about the app changes.
Where are my runs stored?
Only on your device. There is no account and no server, so nothing is uploaded and there is no cloud copy of your data. If you delete the app, every run it recorded is deleted with it. Back up anything you want to keep before removing the app.
Can a shared run reveal where I live?
