Privacy Policy

Steady Pace · Updated 24 July 2026

Steady Pace does not collect your data, and the app makes no network connections at all. There is no account, no analytics, and no server. This policy explains, in plain terms, exactly what the app does with what stays on your phone.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal information. There is no sign-up, no login, and no email address required to use the app.

The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or telemetry software of any kind.

Where your runs live

Your runs — GPS route, pace, distance, elevation, splits, cadence, personal records and any notes you write — are stored only on your device, in storage private to the app. They are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.

Location

The app uses your location to record runs. It requests background location access so tracking continues while your phone is locked or in your pocket — which is the normal way you would use it. Location is used solely to record the run in progress.

If GPS anonymisation is enabled (it is on by default), every run is shifted by an offset that is calculated on your device and then discarded. The coordinates saved to your phone therefore do not correspond to where you actually ran, and the shift cannot be reversed — not by us, not by anyone reading the stored data, and not from a device backup.

Motion and camera

Network connections

The app makes none. It does not connect to any server, ours or anyone else's. Put your phone in airplane mode and every feature still works. Updates arrive through the App Store, the same as any other app.

When data does leave your phone

Only when you deliberately send it. If you export a run as a GPX file, share a run summary, or send a diagnostic recording, iOS's share sheet hands that file to whatever destination you pick. You choose the recipient; we never see it.

Notifications

Notifications are generated locally on your device to show run status. No push service receives your information.

Diagnostic recordings

If you turn on diagnostic mode, the app writes a detailed sensor log for each run to your device so tracking problems can be investigated. These files stay on your phone. You can see how much space they use and delete them at any time in Settings → Storage, and they are never sent anywhere unless you share one yourself.

Deleting your data

Delete a run in the app to remove it, or delete the app to remove everything at once. Because nothing is stored on a server, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and no request you need to send us.

Children

Steady Pace is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
